What Adam Lost, Christ Regained
Romans 5:12-21; I Corinthians 15:21-28, 45-49
Adam Christ
became a living being became a life giving Spirit
made of dust Lord from heaven
created perfect, sinned perfect, became sin (II Cor. 5:21)
lost fellowship with God regained fellowship with God for us
man made in God’s image God covered in man’s image
commanded to subdue the earth did subdue the earth: storms, fig tree, donkey
tempted – gave in – ate tempted – resisted – fasted 40 days
ate of tree of knowledge of good and evil died on a tree
After sinning: recognized he was naked was naked [on the cross]
was ashamed was ashamed (Heb. 12:2)
tried to cover themselves with own efforts (fig leaves) provided our only covering – His righteousness(Titus 3:5)
brought death to all (Gen. 3:3) made life available to all
God sacrificed an animal to make them clothes. Jesus was the sacrifice.(Heb. 9:12)
disobeyed obeyed
Curse for sinning: death overcame death,gives eternal life
condemnation justification
ground cursed – toil to eat ate freely
thorns wore a crown of thorns
sweat to eat bread sweated drops of blood
Jesus is the bread of life.
His body is represented by bread at the Lord’s Supper.
driven out of the Garden buried & rose in a garden(Jn. 20:15)
Sin reigned in death. Grace reigned in life.
curses in Deuteronomy 28 redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13)
defeated by enemies defeated the enemy
enslaved set us free
thirst Jesus said “I thirst”
sickness bore our sicknesses(Matt. 8:17,I Peter 2:24)
poverty became poor that we might be rich (II Cor. 8:9)
lost earthly paradise purchased heavenly paradise
lost everlasting newness makes us new creatures(II Cor. 5:17)
gave authority to the devil gave authority back to us (Luke 10:19,Col 1:13)
was not triumphant over devil was triumphant (Col. 2:15)
causes us to be triumphant (2:14)
